Alice in Wonderland Jewelry

When I ''was'' a child, some of my favorite books to read included Alice in Wonderland and the sequel, Through the Looking Glass. The latter was the most enjoyable because that's where the best silly poems and Tweedledee and Tweedledum appear. These Lewis Carroll books I read were illustrated by John Tenniel. Those images are the best known and have been the inspiration for many jewelry artisans. One such designer was featured in my past post on Paraphenalia who uses vintage pictures as starting points.
Now with the oohs and aahs over the gorgeous and colorful artistic work in Tim Burton's remake of Alice in Wonderland, a couple of jewery artisans have been really quick on the mark because they were likely as enchanted as I am. Above is Jezebelcharms on Etsy's Pocket Watch Necklace featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

Bellyzmama on Etsy has a lovely necklace tribute to "the Royal Pain", the Red Queen of Hearts, played by Helena Bonham Carter (Tim Burton's wife).
Once you see the fantastic teaser posters of the characters, view the stunning video trailer and note the stellar cast, you will easily understand the excitement over this sure-to-be masterpiece. Alan Rickman (Snape in Harry Potter) is the Caterpillar. Anne Hathaway is the White Queen, Timothy Spall (Wormtail in Harry Potter) and Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock to name a few.
The artwork, set design, costumes, creatures - just about everything - is a visual feast. So as a certain White Rabbit would prefer - don't be late for a very important date! The movie will be out in March 2010. I can't wait.
