Couture Est Finie

Famous for its drama, Couture Week has not disappointed this season. Yesterday, on the final day of the schedule, Elie Saab showcased an array of red carpet-worthy pastel gowns in feather-light silk or beaded lace . Later in the day Jean Paul Gaultier took us on a wild and wonderful journey to South America and Valentino went colourful and contemporary with neon shades amid its classic and not so classic gowns.

Earlier in the week Karl Lagerfeld embraced silver as his colour of choice, using the bold metallic to enliven delicate dresses and ice-cream coloured tweed suits alike. John Galliano took his Christian Dior ladiesto the races with a dressage-inspired show complete with top hats, lace veils and riding crops.
Now, after the excitement of the world's most expensive dresses, we enter a two-week fashion drought, before ready-to-wear begins in New York on February 11.
