A flurry of bold and dramatic lips have come down the catwalk this week ranging in all shapes and sizes, but mostly all were a variation on the same gothic, grungy theme: maroon glitter at Doo.ri, deep violet at Peter Som, aubergine at Luca Luca, rich red at Donna Karan, and deep copper at Derek Lam. This continued at Proenza Schouler where last season's summer surfer girl received an off-duty winter makeover. Diane Kendal and her team painted two versions of an early Nineties charred red lips. Blondes were given a rich purple shade and brunettes a rusty red. Diane's top tip for applying a dark lip is to, "apply with a brush for more intense colour, starting darker in the center and getting softer at the edges for a more modern effect".
