Vogue Netherlands Breaks Breastfeeding Taboo With Awesomely Bizarre Shoot
Vogue Netherlands is no stranger to controversy-courting. The blackface-centric editorial they published earlier this year was provocative in the grossest way possible. But in its upcoming October issue, Vogue Netherlands has a “provocative” photo that is actually pretty cool. It’s of a mother breastfeeding her baby, and it’s just weird enough to be interesting without going over the top.
Meant to reference famous portraits by Dutch painter Jan Vermeer, the photo shows model Ymre Stiekema (who is a new mother IRL and posed for the magazine while pregnant last year) dressed in 17th century garments and posed in the traditional stiff fashion. But she’s got her boob out and is feeding her baby, something you’d never see in a traditional Dutch portrait. I can just imagine the art director jumping around saying phrases like “iconic image,” “tradition meets modernity,” and “encompassing much of the Dutch female experience.”
Personally, I think it’s neat in an uncanny way, even if it is a naked attempt at causing a stir via images that are still somewhat taboo in western society. And while they are not naked, the other photos in the spread (titled “The Master and the Girl”) are fun eye candy as well. As it turns out, disorienting anachronisms photograph quite well.

QUOTE: “Photographer Terry Richardson is a sex offender”
If you are a little in to the world of fashion photographers,you probably know Terry Richardson. This guy loves taking (partly) naked pictures of celebs like Miley Cyrus and models like Miranda Kerr. Although he is loved by customers as Vogue and Mango, there are also people who do not like this man.
A lady named Alice Ehrenfried from England, had enough of Terrys behavior and started a petition on Change.org against him. In her motivation is to detail what a model named Jamie Peck have experienced during a shoot with the photographer.
A sometime model named Jamie Peck (in the picture above^) wrote of an experience she had on a shoot with Richardson six years ago. When she said she wanted to keep her underwear on because she was menstruating, Peck says Richardson asked her to take out her tampon so he could play with it, and make "tampon tea." He insisted on being called "Uncle Terry," and during their shoot, Richardson unexpectedly stripped naked.
"Before I could say 'whoa, whoa, whoa!' dude was wearing only his tattoos and waggling the biggest dick I'd ever seen dangerously close to my unclothed person (granted, I hadn't seen very many yet)." In Peck's words, Richardson eventually "maneuvered" her over to a couch in his studio, where he "strongly suggested I touch his terrifying penis." When he ejaculated, one of his assistants gave Peck a towel.

in the late 70s italian architect, illustrator and industrial designer luigi serafini made a book, an encyclopedia of unknown, parallel world. it’s about 360-380 pages. it is written in an unknown language, using an unknown alphabet. it took him 30 month to complete that masterpiece that many might call “the strangest book on earth”. codex seraphinianus is divided to 11 chapters and two parts - first one is about nature and the second one is about people.
